Bibliotheek2.0 is een nieuwe community, die zich, de titel zegt het al, bezighoudt met Bibliotheek2.0 zaken. Want de vraag is, wat kan web2.0 voor ons als bibliotheken betekenen. Hoe moet het bibliotheekvak daarmee omgaan? We kunnen moeilijk achterover leunen nu de digitale ontwikkelingen zo snel gaan. En dan met name in de richting van sociale netwerken, het delen van informatie (Digg, Furl), foto's (Flickr), films (YouTube) ideeen, muziek (LastFm), kortom alles wat ons bezighoudt, kan tegenwoordig gedeeld worden met anderen. En steeds meer kan gedaan worden op het web, is dus puur web-based. Van opslag van informatie tot het gebruik van office software. Voorheen werden de ontwikkelingen bijgehouden op OBlog, een weblog volgeschreven door een paar collega's. Maar Bibliotheek2.0 is veel flexibeler en veelzijdiger en maakt beter gebruik van de laatste stand van zaken. Een prima initiatief derhalve. Voor elke bibliotheekmedewerker, maar voor algemeen geinteresseerden een site om in de gaten te houden. Duidelijk is al wel, dat sommige bibliotheken veel verder op dit gebied zijn dan andere. Ook duidelijk is, dat het een geleidelijk proces is, een richting waarin bibliotheken zullen moeten gaan, willen ze hun relevantie voor de jongere generatie behouden.
